I’ve always found it useful to read what other creators write about how they make what they make. Not the results — results are everywhere. What interests me is the inside of it: the problem that showed up on Thursday, the decision that changed everything, the moment someone understood why a particular scene wasn’t working.

This kind of account rarely survives. It gets lost in conversations, personal notebooks, private chats. And when someone wants to learn the process, what’s left is the final product, not the path.

I decided to open this notebook as a way of not losing the path — mine, first. And maybe, with luck, useful to someone else.

What’s coming

The first posts will be about Predators, the animated short I’m producing now. I want to record everything: the narrative structure, the character design choices, the generative-AI pipeline I’m using, the mistakes, the internal arguments. When the film comes out, the making-of comes with it.

After that, essays will start to appear. A few things in the queue: how Mamoru Hosoda works with time in his closing scenes, why ambiguous endings are almost always a kind of evasion, and how I organized myself to produce a short film in three months without quitting my remote job.

Welcome.
